Damiana Essential Oil 9ml
Damiana has an exotic history. While this herbs’ lore is often associated with its history of use in potions to arouse amorous passion, it is more reasonably associated with use to produce Mexican liqueurs, tonics and herbal teas. The aroma of the plant and essential oil is unique; pungent, bitter-sweet and similar to stronger chamomile essential oils.
Mexican folklore claims that herbal infusions of Damiana were key components in the "original" margaritas. Damiana extracts were also reportedly part of the original Cola beverage recipes. Damiana essential oil has an aroma that suggests novelty and curiosity. When combined with carrier oils and other essential oils it is a wondrous inclusion for producing an exotic massage and is well suited for intimacy and celebratory occasions.
The Damiana plant is a small shrub native to Central, South America and the southwestern United States. It blossoms in early-to-late summer, followed by small fruits tasting somewhat like figs or bitter-sweet dates. The essential oil is made by distillation of the leaves and small blossoms.
The International Federation of Aromatherapists does not recommend that Essential Oils be taken internally unless under the supervision of a Medical Doctor who is also qualified in clinical Aromatherapy. All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion.
